About the book
Frank explores how to live ‘The Good Life’ in a sustainable way and finds that it all starts with food. He reviews the science around climate change and food and summarises it into a priority list with actionable tips. In between are 40 easy recipes to turn knowledge into action.
Whether you eat meat every day or have been vegetarian for years, we are all on a journey. This book is a compass for heading in the right direction.
Part 1: What can I do about climate change?
The book starts with Frank’s personal journey. Can you make a difference as an individual? What does a sustainable version of ‘The Good Life’ look like? And how do we stay hopeful when things are moving so slowly?
Part 2: The food system
These chapters explore the key issues with the current food system but also the hopeful solutions that are available.
Part 3: What’s for dinner?
The third part follows the structure of our compass: what are the most impactful food choices – based on science – that we can take to reduce the climate impact of our food. And also: which choices have a minimal impact, so we can relax a bit more? Each chapter includes practical tips.
“Join Frank the Fork Ranger as he starts his winding journey through the globalised landscapes of farming and food, combining bite sizes of information into a very palatable format: recipes for sustainable dishes. Through his honest exploration, Frank is one of our ambassadors for turning knowledge into action.”

- is a physical and beautiful reminder to eat with the seasons
How the seasonal calendar works
Many people want to eat seasonal food but no longer know when something is in season. And knowing is only half of the work: you also need to create a meal around those ingredients. That’s why we have created this calendar that includes 4 recipes for every month.
We cross-checked everything with various sources and divided the fruits and vegetables into four categories, to give you a better understanding of the seasons:
- Products that are almost out of season fall under last chance.
- Some products are great from storage for several months, like apples or cabbage.
- Prime time is when fruits and vegetables are harvested and they are at their best.
- And starting now helps you spot the new arrivals.
Each month includes a link to four recipes with the ingredients of that month, so you can put knowledge into action. You can open them in your browser or with a voucher code in the Fork Ranger iPhone app. Android coming soon!
This calendar will help you discover new flavors and make an impact with your food. Together we can rewild our landscapes, and in the process, rewild ourselves.
How sustainable are the book and calendar?
If you once make 4 portions Smokey Chilli without meat instead of with meat you’ve already saved 6.1 times more CO2 than the CO2 emissions of the book and calendar.
Also, there are no dates on the calendar so you can use it every year, and we’ve printed them double-sided so less paper and ink was used.

I bought the book + seasonal calendar combo deal (and the lunch PDF as well!) and LOVE them! And with the voucher codes I can see all the recipes in the app — I just wish the option to sort recipes alphabetically will be added soon 😉
Definitely recommend ❤️

I love how simple the recipes are, or better: how well explained they are. I’ve always found recipes to be confusing with the cooking time but by the use of design everything is super clear! Totally recommend it.

What a fantastic book with clear and simple instructions, plenty of visual aides and very informative beyond simple statistics. I really appreciate how all the recipes contain ingredients that are easy to obtain but the seasonal calendar does show you when the more ‘obscure’ vegetables and fruits are in season. I cannot wait for more recipes to be added.

Best thing I have bought in a long while. I LOVE flipping through the mix of recipes and narrative and am so inspired to cook again!! As a lifelong veggie I have constantly struggled with variety in my diet and I’m so happy to have found this book & calendar combo. THANK YOU!!! I made the smokey chilli for my family last week and it went down a storm, especially with the excitement that it had COFFEEEEE in it!!
