Like so often in the past weeks, Robert Landsberg is documenting the small eruptions of Mt St Helens. But this morning is different.<\/p>\n[h5p id=&#8221;27&#8243;]\nImage series by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/photo\/2015\/05\/the-eruption-of-mount-st-helens-in-1980\/393557\/#img04\">The Atlantic<\/a>\n\t<p>When the volcano explodes with the force of 500 atomic bombs, Landsberg realises there is not enough time to get away.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/app.forkranger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/robert-landsberg-32.png\" alt=\"robert-landsberg-32\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"259\" width=\"400\" title=\"robert-landsberg-32\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\tHe keeps on taking photographs and then shields the rolls of film with his own body. St. Helens killed 57 people and destroyed the landscape.\n\tThe volcano also sent 10 million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
