It’s 2018, I’m drinking coffee with a friend and we start talking about the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"coffee\n\t

I was 15 when I made my first website about melting glaciers and polar bears.<\/p>\n\t

I had realised that the world isn’t fair. I felt guilty about how rich and privileged I was as a kid from Europe.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"frank\n\t

But guilt turned into purpose: to use my lucky situation to make a positive impact.<\/p>\n\tMy coffee is almost empty when my friend asks about the solutions<\/em> for climate change.\n\t\t\t\t\"coffee\n\t

But I have no answers. All this time I’ve had a passion for climate change without a clue what to do about it!?<\/p>\n\t

In university, I wanted to write my thesis about solar panels.<\/p>\n\t

But my advisor told me that I would have to choose a topic I knew something about.<\/p>\n\t

So I wrote about social media instead…<\/p>\n\t

I really <\/em>care about climate change. But maybe I’m not technical enough to understand it?<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"coffee\n\t

Maybe climate change isn’t where I can make an impact.<\/p>\n\t

Maybe I’ve chosen the wrong passion…<\/p>\n\t

But I’m not ready to give up climate change, yet.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"books\"\n\t

I’m reading all kinds of books, trying to see what would make a difference.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"25\n\t

And slowly it starts to make sense…<\/p>\n\t11 of the 25 solutions in the book Drawdown are about food!\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMore info\n\t\t\t\t

In the book ‘Drawdown<\/a>‘, the third and fourth-best solution to reduce CO2-eq emissions is reducing food waste and eating a plant-rich diet. In their updated, report they moved to spot one and three.<\/p>\n

Food is not only a big solution from a global perspective, but also for an individual because food makes up one of the biggest emission categories (35% in the Netherlands).<\/p>\n

But food is not only important for CO2 emissions. Agriculture plays an even bigger role in land use, water use, biodiversity loss and eutrophication (water pollution).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"choices\"\n\t

I’m really excited because we don’t need complicated technology to solve food problems!<\/p>\n\t

All we need is better choices from regular people like you and me.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"OLYMPUS\n\t

It gets even better: our food choices can not only stop the damage, they can also heal\u00a0<\/em>the Earth.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"heal\"\n\tI’ve never been a foodie but now I realise that cooking is my daily chance to restore the planet.\n\t\t\t\t\"camp-fire\"\n\t

Food is like voting three times a day in what kind of world we want to live.<\/p>\n\tThere’s just one problem: I don’t like vegetarian cooking.\nMost recipes have ingredients I don’t know. Or it’s a salad that doesn’t fill me.\n\t

So I decide to look for better recipes and that’s the beginning of Fork Ranger.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"road-soft\"\n\t

In order to make a real difference, I can’t go this journey alone.<\/p>\n\t

Will you join me on this adventure?<\/p>\n
