Almost the only thing that we still have is &#8216;pumpkin season&#8217; for Halloween \ud83c\udf83<\/p>\n<p>Who even knew anymore that spring-onions are not really at their best in spring? They&#8217;re always in store. So it&#8217;s not strange that you might not realize this has quite the impact on our climate.<\/p>\n<p>When something does not naturally grow in season, it costs a lot extra to produce it,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in a greenhouse \ud83c\udfed,<\/li>\n<li>to freeze it to prolong shelf-life \u2744\ufe0f,<\/li>\n<li>or to transport it from somewhere else \ud83d\ude9a.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other words: convenience is costing us in energy and polution.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just a simple example to visualize it, with spinach:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fr-wp.cowdev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/spinach-seasonal-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"spinach seasonal\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1024\" width=\"1024\" title=\"spinach seasonal\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t<p>Luckily, it&#8217;s easy to make a change. By cooking and eating what&#8217;s in season and locally available, you can make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>By choosing to make concious choices when shopping instead of going for convenience, you can already make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>And as added benefit, eating in-season will also help you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>appreciate variation in veggies and fruits more.
